One of the latest must-see movies this Christmas is based on a Children’s book by Dr. Seuss How the Grinch Stole Christmas. The Grinch (a nasty fictitious character) attempts to ruin Christmas in the local town by making off with all the gifts, decorations, food, music and cards, which he believed made up Christmas. But to the Grinch’s surprise, he soon realized that out of all of the things he stole from everyone in Who-ville, the one thing he could not steal was the “joy” of Christmas out of their hearts. The joy of Jesus’ birth, the Messiah bringing joy, peace and happiness to the world!
So, on this Christmas, do not allow the spirit of the Grinch steal your joy. Even if for someone reason, you are not experiencing joy, feeling lonely, depressed, or overwhelmed, Jesus coming to earth is not based upon the presents from the store, decorating, credit card debt and other reasons; it is about the hope and love that only Jesus can bring; He is the gift that keeps on giving and the reason to believe. “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but shall have everlasting life” John 3:16. Amen.
Have a joyous Christmas this year!
